Heritage Project 2018

Christ Church is grateful to Columbia Basin Trust and Heritage BC for funding our 2018 Heritage Project. In a nutshell, the project was to invite heritage professionals to research the significance of our church and rectory, assess their condition, and suggest a plan of conservation for each so that we may draw upon these when making decisions about building maintenance and repair into the future. Thanks to the generosity of Columbia Basin Trust and BC Heritage, Elana Zysblat and John Atkin of Ance Building Services Inc. did just that! The "Statements of Significance" and "Conservation Plans" for our church and our rectory are below (see Places of Faith).
An unanticipated and welcome side benefit was the creation of this Heritage section on our website. It came about because, at the urging of Ance Building Services Inc, we started digging into our records and asking parishioners to share their stories and their values around Christ Church. We did so to understand what past generations have valued and how that has been expressed in our buildings...and to think about how we might sustain our buildings into the future in a relevant and useful way for the community and our parish family.
We hope you enjoy the stories that we have collected so far. In 2019 and beyond, we hope to keep adding to our stories and understanding of our heritage. This is a work in progress.
